The FDA finalized seven major rules to implement the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). Many of the compliance deadlines have already passed, one of those being the Rule on Sanitary Transportation of Human and Animal Food. The rule focuses on establishing clear responsibilities for anyone arranging transportation operations or directly involved in transporting food by motor or rail vehicle in the United States.

About Eric Edmunds of the Acheson Group
Eric Edmunds, J.D., is the Director of Food Safety at The Acheson Group (TAG). He has a B.S. in Biology from Westminster College, and a J.D. from Willamette University College of Law. While working as a program analyst and food safety specialist with the Food Safety and Animal Health Program at the Oregon Department of Agriculture, Eric managed the program rulemaking docket, performed inspections, and assisted in policy development and industry outreach in regard to FSMA and other state programs. Eric is admitted to the Idaho State Bar and a Registered Environmental Health Specialist/Registered Sanitarian with the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA). Eric is certified in HACCP and is a FSMA Preventive Controls Qualified Individual for Human Food and Produce Safety Rule Trainer.
